Following on from a meeting at the House of Lords, Tamsin and Rachel hot footed it to Lambeth Palace for the prestigious 2016 Sandford St Martin Awards. Boy on the Bicycle was one of eight finalists in a really strong category but we are once again thrilled to say we won the Children’s Award.
Chair of the judging panel, children’s author Frank Cotterell-Boyce, said of the programme: “our winner did that thing that television still does best of all – it gave a human face to one of the great issues. And what a face – Ahmed had swagger, insight, and eloquence. He also had a bike . . .”
